Nyoni’s Kraal in Cape Town is the perfect restaurant and venue to consider for your incentive group, conference, bosberaad, lekgotla or social event. Our venue can accommodate up to 350 guests and is located in trendy Long Street, close to the CTICC. Come and experience South Africa’s cuisine and culture at its best!
Venue Hire
Our venue is suitable for all events ranging from formal corporate presentations, conferences, workshops, product launches, cocktail functions, fashion shows and weddings. Our venue rooms embody style and South African sophistication and can comfortably accommodate guests in various seating configurations. We are flexible and can customize our packages to suit your budget and requirements.
Room 2 has a Victorian glass roof which lets in a lot of natural light. This can be blocked out by thick curtains. The shape of the room provides an area suitable for displays and branding opportunities on the sides around the seating area. The full capacity of the venue (utilizing both levels) is 285 pax.

Venue hire applies to all events (breakfasts, lunches, cocktails and dinners) except for the Day Conference Package. Venue hire will be quoted separately. It is also possible to hire the full venue on an exclusive basis.
Cocktail Functions
The venue has a maximum of 5 high cocktail tables and black tablecloths available at no extra charge. Should you require more cocktail tables as well as centrepieces/flowers, these can be ordered in at an additional cost. Cocktail menus are available for pre selection at a minimum cost of R165.00 per person between 16h00 and 18h00. Should the cocktail reception take place after 18h00 (during dinner time), a more substantial menu will be applicable.
Service Charge
A service charge of 10% is applicable on all food & beverage consumed for groups or events. No service charge is applicable to conference packages.
Dietary Requirements
Special meal requirements e.g. Halaal, vegetarian or kosher are to be indicated 5 (five) working days prior to the function. Unfortunately we do not cater strictly Halaal or kosher, as we do not have the facilities. Our menus can be Halaal friendly, which means that no pork and alcohol products will be used. Strictly Halaal and kosher meals can be purchased from our preferred supplier at R300 per person.
Equipment
The venue is fitted with plasma screens in all rooms, which is a perfect tool for event branding. The use of the plasma screens is free of charge. Client to provide the display material in advance on DVD so that we can do a test run prior to the event.
Room 2 is fitted with a permanent stage. Other rooms do not have permanent stages and these have to be hired at an additional cost if required by the organiser. A dance floor can be provided, but is not included in the menu cost and venue hire. We provide a complimentary rectangular registration table covered with a black tablecloth for each conference or event.
The following equipment is included in the menu / venue hire cost for groups of 100 pax or more.

- Corded stationery microphones on stage in Room 2. The sound is transferred via our in-house sound system which is quite clear and audible.

Should you require equipment over and above the equipment offered, please forward your detailed requirements in order that a quotation may be forwarded from our preferred equipment supplier. Conference groups are welcome to bring their own stationery. Pens and notepads can be supplied at an additional cost.
Bar and Beverages
- Full bar facilities are available, which will be charged on consumption and billed to the master account. If a full bar is available to guests, please confirm whether imported brands, doubles shots or shooters may be served and charged to the master account.
- Please note that a cash bar is available for all events and conferences.
- No beverages may be brought onto the premises, but this rule is negotiable for large events or conferences.
- A wine and beverage list is available for pre selection should it be required.

Please note that the sale and the serving of alcoholic beverages at Nyoni’s Kraal are subject to the Liquor Act 27 of 1989, which permits the licensee to sell and serve liquor up until 2 am. Should you require serving alcoholic beverages after such time, please advise us in advance in order to apply for a special discretionary license?
Decor & Flowers
The venue hire includes our standard decor and does not include any draping or flowers. Should you require additional decor or flowers, please forward your detailed requirements in order that a quotation may be forwarded from our preferred decor supplier and florist. Kindly note that all additional décor should be approved by the restaurant management in order to ensure that additional décor compliments our brand.
Parking
Parking is strictly subject to availability of the public parking bays in Long Street and surrounding area. A drop off zone for groups and coaches can be arranged in front of the restaurant. Payment for public parking is for guest’s account and is not included in our conference package or venue hire. Alternatively, organizers can contact the management of the Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital - Tel: (021) 480 6111 to obtain a quote for bays in their parking garage. It is a 5-min walk from the hospital to Nyoni’s Kraal.
Overtime
All day functions are to terminate at 17:00 and evening functions at midnight. An overtime charge of R1500 per hour or any part thereof will for apply for functions extending beyond the above times.
Day Conference Packages
Our day conference packages are applicable to a minimum of 10 delegates.
Full day Conference Package – R200 per person
Includes:
- Tea, coffee and fruit juice on arrival
- Tea, coffee and refreshments at mid-morning
- Tea, coffee and refreshments at mid-afternoon
- Chef’s choice conference lunch (we can offer set menu or buffet)
Half day Conference Package – R160 per person
Includes:
- Tea, coffee and refreshments on arrival
- Tea, coffee and refreshments at mid-morning or mid-afternoon
- Chef’s choice conference lunch or breakfast (we can offer set menu or buffet)
Refreshment options (one option free of charge, thereafter R10 per person per additional item):
- Variety of home-made biscuits
- Mini milk tarts
- Mini fruit tarts
- Fruit skewers
- Carrot Cake
- Cupcakes
- Bran Muffins served with cheese and jam
- Buttermilk scones served with cheese, jam and cream
We can offer themed breaks at an additional cost of R35 per person:
- Health break: energy bars, fruit skewers and smoothies
- ‘Local is lekker’ sweet break: mini milktarts and koeksisters
- ‘Local is lekker’ savoury break: samoosas, curry mince mini vetkoek
- Death by chocolate: chocolate brownies and chocolate bars
- Wonderland break: cupcakes, pick a mix sweets and marshmallows
- Summer break: ice cream or frozen yoghurt served on sugar cones
We can offer conference room snacks (in addition to mints) at an additional cost of R18 per person (choose two options from the list below):

All the day conference packages include the following at no charge:
- Room hire for the main conference room

Terms and Conditions
- All rates quoted are 2009. Rates for 2010 will only be published in June 2009, but an inflation related increase will apply for 2010 and beyond.
- All the rates quoted are Nett, non-commissionable and include 14% VAT.
- The booking will not be confirmed until the receipt of 50% of the total estimated value of the function has been paid.
- The booking will remain cancellable at Nyoni’s Kraal’s option until confirmed by the receipt of 50% of the total estimated value of the function as stipulated above. Foresaid amount is due and payable within 7 days of the provisional booking having been made.
- The 50% balance of the estimated value of the function will be due, at the latest, one day prior to the function.
- Any balance of payment due by either party is to be settled within 7 days of the scheduled date of the function.
- Final confirmation of numbers of guests attending the function must be confirmed 7 working days prior to the function. Final charges will be based on the number of guests confirmed on this date. In the event of numbers increasing additional charges will apply.
- For security reasons we require all our clients to facilitate registration on the day of your function.
- It is a condition of occupation of the venue that the restaurant or its management and employees shall not be responsible for the loss or damage to any property brought by the client and his accompanying guests upon the premises, whether arising from fire, theft or any cause and by whosoever caused.
- The client will be held responsible for any damages caused by the client and or guests or suppliers of the client to the property of Nyoni’s Kraal, whilst setting up, breaking down and utilizing the facilities.
Cancellation Terms for functions under R20 000.00
All cancellations must be advised in writing. Cancellation of a confirmed booking and refunds on deposits will be dealt with as follows:
- Full refund of deposit 2 months and more notice prior to the function.
- 30% of estimated value of function will be charged for in the event of cancellation later than 2 months prior to the function.
- 50% of the estimated value of function will be charged for in the event of cancellation later than 21 days prior to the function.
- 100% of the estimated value of function will be charged for in the event of cancellation later than 7 days prior to the function.
- Deposits relate to specific dates (as stated above) and are not transferable to alternative dates.
Cancellation Terms for functions exceeding R20 000.00
- The deposit is deemed not to be refundable.
- An additional 25% of the estimated value of the function will be levied in the event of cancellation later than 21 days prior to the function.
- The balance of the estimated value of the function in addition to the deposit paid will be charged in the event of cancellation later than 10 working days prior to the function.
- Deposits relate to specific dates (as stated above) and are not transferable to alternative dates.
